Highlight App Reviews

Doesn’t support multiple monitors

It works ok with just one monitor but as soon as I plugin another monitor it only works on the external. You can’t choose *all* monitors and if you have multiple externals monitors you can’t select which one it will work on

Ms.

This is the worst highlight tool application. It does not actually highlight. This is more of an annotator that is already available if you have a mac but does not work like the one in the snipping tool. I cannot believe I paid for this. I would like my money back.

Dumb Problem - Do Not Recommend

This app would be perfect, except for one problem—Anytime you double tap, a text input box appears. This is a problem because it interprets a double tap often. And when it comes up, you can not get rid of the text input box easily. This is a problem if you are recording a screencast. I’m very frustrated with this app. Do not recommend.

Sufficient for highlighting during presentations.

The application works as specified and doesn’t get in your way once you learn a few keystrokes. While using the app, I could DOUBLE-CLICK with my mouse which presents a text window that I can type to Highlight will add text to the sceen - nice touch! I would like to recommend (feature request) that the ‘mouse’ change from the black arrow into a yellow arrow (black outline) or a small highlight pen as indication that it’s active, without having to look for the menu on the left of the screen, but otherwise, it’s an inexpensive app and very useful. [I am on a Mac Pro using macOS Sierra].

Really good app with a really bad flaw.

It’s a simple app, that works really well except there’s a really bad flaw in the double click logic. When you double click you get a text input box which is nice, though only moderately useful given how imprecise positioning is. But that’s not a real problem, just a minor nuisance The real problem is that if you are using a Wacom tablet, and draw something like an X, or a T or anything the application will see this as a double click, remove the most recent stroke and wait for text input. It’s bad. Double click is the wrong way to raise this feature. It needs to be configurable so I can use a key, or a button on my stylus.

Great tool which does what it

This tool is exactly what Gromit (Linux) and Zoomit (Windows) do. There are some improvements that could be done: - A mode to customize the hints overlay would be great. - It is confusing that the Highlight settings are found by clicking on the icon in the taskbar and not under the usual App > Preferences. - A way to customize the keyboard shortcuts for the various shapes would be great as well.

Did not work with my computer

This app, after purachsing it, did not work with my computer. I am running OS 10.7 and the app says it works with 10.6 and later.

Not practical

Poor user experience, sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn’t, you cannot quickly switch between drawing & not drawing making it tedious to use in a meeting.

Excellent with one glaring issue

So this app is exactly what I was hoping for. There are several issues however, one of which is especially critical for presentations: 1. it doesn’t seem to work with full-screen applications. In my case, it makes it useless for demos, but otherwise great for working with a development team and or project management team. 2. it only works on the first desktop! Oops - that didn’t seem to be listed anywhere…. Still it’s a crazy good bargain and if those limitations were noted clearly (I don’t believe they are) it would be 5 stars. Normally I’d rate this app 3 stars, but at it’s price it does work really well, and if features 1 and 2 were added, it would be worth at least $10+… Crazy helpful. Thanks for the hard work.

Crashing software.

Would be nice if it works. Crash every time I use. Dont support multiple desktop.

Bug Report

Please allow user to select what font it uses when drawing text, because it has a problem to display text when typing non-english. Thanks!!

Startup Message

Please tell me how to disable startup splush screen. 安いけど十分使える。 唯一起動時に10秒ぐらいランダムなスプラッシュスクリーンが表示されるのが邪魔だけど、消す設定が見当たらない。

Great app for native screenshot tool users

Undo option is unfortunately lacking :(

Useless tool

According to screens it seems that you can highlight anywhere, but actualy only on desctop page where its run. If you switch working space to any program, like browser, then you will not be able to use highlight. WTF the usability?

Okay app...

Works as advertised, and can be very helpful. You can change the color and size of the pen mark, but it is difficult to go from one application to another if you are not using powerpoint. This makes it a little less userfriendly than I would like.

Terrible

Pros: it costs 0.99 Cons: (1) You can not switch apps when Highlight is running. Ok, you can, but you can not use them. Really stupid. (2) You can not change line color. Ok, you can, but for _all_ lines on the screen. Really stupid. (3) You can not save what you have done. Ok, you can, but just by making a screenshot. Really… (you know). (4) Crashes all the time. Ok, it really crashes all the time. I want my money back.

BAD HIGHLIGHTER APP

I was not looking for a coloring tool. This is more like scribble all over my browser type of deal, rather than highlighting key ideas and points. This has no use.

Sweet little app

Every week I do a lot of online meetings. When sharing my desktop Ive needed something that I could use to quickly draw a line or a circle or whatever to point something out -- ie., to highlight what I was talking about. This app does just that. It has an easy to remember shortcut so its simple to clear the highlighting. If youre running a VM you can highlight on that too as long as your VM is not displaying in full screen mode. When I first downloaded it I had a quick question for the developer. Ive never had anyone respond as quickly and courtesly. The best money Ive ever spent. Maybe its because Im using a later version, but Ive never had it crash.

Works great

Contrary to what some reviewers have implied, this IS a highlighter… the developer might change the installed preference from Red to Yellow so some people can see it actually looks like a highlighter. If just take the time to read the manual or visit the developer website where you can see a video demonstration they youll know what this app can do. You can change the color, the width of the pen, and the hot key. I find the hot key of Cmd-F1 works best for me. I do a lot of online meetings (Fuze) and this tool is great for highlighting.

Can

I was looking for something I could use to draw on the screen, then use the rest of my Mac apps normally underneath the all the drawing. The drawing part is fine but I CANNOT use other apps with the mouse with Highlight running in the background, the mouse cursor is permanently enabled as a drawing pen until I quit Highlight. Downloaded Screen Marker instead and got what I was looking for.
